Shoe choice matters. Opt for an elevated sandal, a white sneaker or a mule in a lighter neutral tone to avoid chopping up the leg line.
A note about flip flops: I grew up in flip flops in Southern California, so I get it. But, flips flops are typically too casual of a choice with a dress and have a tendency to look less intentional. So upgrade to another still comfy but maybe more refined sandal option.

Don’t forget to accessorize. Hair and jewelry are part of the outfit that we sometimes forget. When you are wearing a dress for everyday, you can tone down these elements to balance a more casual look, but don’t forget them entirely. With an easy one and done dress, hair and jewelry are your chance to guide the direction of the look.

A cute bag or hat can be the “third piece” with a springtime dress. It’s also an opportunity to add texture and detail. I love a long crossbody strap with a solid colored dress to help create an elongating diagonally line through the color block of the solid dress.
