About the Brand

Poppy Barley is a sustainably focused Canadian brand. All their shoes are handcrafted ethically in Mexico and Spain. While they are definitely an "investment" addition to your closet, Poppy Barley shoes have such a next level feel of luxury leather and high ticket designer quality. You could spend a lot more for a lesser crafted item that doesn't have the backing of a label that cares about the people and the planet behind their product the way Poppy Barley does.

Okay let's talk about the shoes now!...

The Margot Heeled Sandals have this extremely elegant criss cross smooth leather and a refined heel. It's not as chunky as a block heel, but gives you way more support than a stiletto - maybe the best of both worlds here. The square toe feels very fashion forward, too. I thought this two tone color combo was really fun, and they come in other shades like solid black and also a black with white.

In this warm pecan (I call it cognac) color, the Margot Heels are easy to dress down for everyday as well as rock for a fancier occasion. But if you're looking for an elevated but more practical walking and daily life sandal, they also come in an adorable slide version. The Margot Slide Sandals are the same style with a whimsical rounded mini heel. The color options for the Margot Slides are solid cognac, two tone black with white, and a shimmering metallic champagne.

A note about sizing: So far with the two pairs of Poppy Barley shoes I have added to my closet (the High Street Boots and now the Margot Heeled Sandals), I have found them to run a little on the small side. I went with my bigger shoe size in both styles and found that they fit a little short and snug. So if you're between sizes or just want some extra wiggle room for your toes, definitely size up.

You know there's nothing I love more than a good outfit sandwich (when an element of your outfit like your bag color repeats and completes somewhere else like your shoes). So we need to talk about this adorable Day to Night Bag, also from Poppy Barley.

This compact packs a lot. And my favorite feature is in the name with 2 convertible straps. The bag comes with a blingy mini gold chain handle to use as a shoulder bag or clutch for evenings and events as well as a classic crossbody adjustable strap. I had fun playing around with ways to combine the two strap styles, too (see the one shoulder olive tank outfit).

I love the classic smooth pecan brown leather, but it also comes in a whimsical pistachio, Elle Woods approved pink, black and beige.
